Flat or young warts are viral growths on the skin that are characteristic of children and adolescents. Their occurrence is due to the failure of the immune system at a young age and the inability to resist certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). The disease is caused by HPV types 3, 5 and 10. These types of viruses are widespread in nature and are transmitted through direct contact, mainly in groups of children. The disease is manifested only by a violation of the immune status, and over time, the warts may disappear on their own.
Causes
The formation of flat warts is due to the penetration of human papillomavirus types 3, 5 and 10 into the skin. Papillomavirus passes through small cracks and fissures in the skin and damages keratinocytes. By altering the DNA of these cells, they begin to produce collagen more intensively, which leads to the growth of stratum corneum and the formation of warts.
The virus is transmitted through direct contact with infected people, children usually develop after contact with other children in kindergarten or school, but adults without symptoms can also be a source of the virus. Warts spread throughout the body when scratched or shaved.
Symptoms
When infected with the virus, flat, round, or oblong nodules up to 3 mm in diameter appear on the skin. Papules can coalesce to form polygonal eruptions. Usually, the mother's warts appear first, followed by small daughters. When scratched, the papules grow linearly from the spread of the virus in the direction of the comb. The node can be single or multiple - it depends on the level of resistance of the body. The structure is not different from healthy skin in color, but sometimes they have a yellow or brown color.
The surface of the rash is smooth and is not accompanied by itching, pain and burning. Papules are usually localized on the skin or surface of the hand - the areas where the virus first came into contact. They can spread to other areas: the wrists, the mucous membranes of the mouth, or the red forehead.
Diagnosis
This is sufficient to assess and examine the specific clinical picture. Rarely are they used to detect the virus using a polymerase chain reaction.
Due to the large number of warts and the ineffectiveness of treatment, a thorough examination of the body and the patient's immune status is performed. The overall process usually indicates serious health problems.
How to get rid of flat warts?
- Strengthening the immune system with anthelmintic drugs.
- Keratolytic and antiviral agents are also used: cream with 5% salicylic resorcinol oil, oxolinic oil, oil or interferon alfa-2, 10% silver nitrate solution. Silver nitrate is not recommended to remove flat warts on the face.
- In rare cases, cryotherapy and laser removal are used.
When children develop warts, they are often simply controlled because the devices are more likely to heal on their own.
Folk remedies
There are many effective ways to treat warts with folk remedies. They are based on the use of plants and substances that have keratolytic properties:
- Celandine. The juice from the stem of this plant helps to dissolve the top layer of warts. The nodes are lubricated several times a day with celery juice until complete recovery.
- Potatoes. The warts are applied to the porridge (under the skin) from the top layer of potatoes and covered with a bandage. The compress is left overnight. The procedure should be performed daily until the papule disappears.
- Vinegar. Once a day, table vinegar is applied to the affected area of the skin until it is completely healed.
- Kalanchoe. Gruel from kalanchoe leaves is applied to the papule and covered with a bandage or gauze napkin. The compress is left for several hours. The procedure should be performed daily.
Forecasting and consequences
The prognosis for young warts is favorable. Formations are harmless and disappear quickly with the normalization of immunity.
To prevent their appearance, you should wash your child's hands thoroughly after visiting various public places and treat them for colds and other diseases that weaken the immune system in a timely manner.
